Ashfield Performing Arts Students Step 'Into the Spotlight'

Ashfield students, from Year 7 right the way through to Year 13, wowed audiences last week with two evenings of stunning Musical Theatre numbers as part of the ‘Into The Spotlight’ showcase. BTEC Musical Theatre students were joined on stage this year by Key Stage 3 Drama Club, Key Stage 3 Dance Club, our Elite Dance Troop, our A-Level Dancers, the school production cast and a whole host of other students who had independently put together numbers to perform. The talent was absolutely incredible and many audience members commented on how enjoyable the evenings were to attend.

One parent commented after the show:  “Just wanted to congratulate you all on the fantastic shows this week! You had me crying with laughter one minute then with sadness the next. Absolutely amazing!!! What talent! It just blew me away.  Can’t wait for the next one!”

Another added:  “Just to let you know how much we enjoyed last night, it was brilliant, funny, just lovely, we left feeling so good, such a great bunch of talented students.  Well done to all the staff in Performing Arts for all the blood sweat and tears that you all must shed to get them there.”

The staff are also are very proud of the students who took part, and were keen to stress how enthusiastic, hardworking and dedicated they had been throughout rehearsals: true professionals! Each year, our students never fail to impress with the standard and quality of their work, but this year they raised the bar even higher. They are all such a credit to the Performing Arts departments at Ashfield, and the school community eagerly awaits their next performance project.

Final word goes to one of the performers, who said of the experience:  “It’s been such an amazing showcase and a pleasure to perform with you all!! And thank you to the teachers for making it possible. I’m going to miss this family so, so much.”
