To create a genuine working environment
in which to train our students and the wider community. We aim
to fill the recognised skills gaps within the local economy
working in partnership with industry and business thus helping
towards the future regeneration of the area. Our vision was
to have businesses and industry on site delivering truly innovative
and forward thinking training courses.
The RAC has established a national
training base at the Centre. Here they train apprentices for
Hyundai, Kia, and Renault Trucks as well as training their own
fleet mechanics. They also train our students to Levels 1 and
2. Our students often work alongside apprentices and adults
in a state of the art workshop. The tremendous synergy that
has developed between the school and our partners has seen the
RAC hold several National Conferences on site and our Hospitality
and Catering partner, Charnwood Training, provides the conference
facilities and food. The company works closely with our ICT
department to develop marketing materials for the RAC, giving
real life scenarios to our students.
Construction is run by our own specialist
staff who offer courses from Level 1 and 2 as well as the Construction
Diploma in a purpose built workshop. We also offer courses to
other local schools. The school works closely with Baggaley
Construction and NEBA.
Charnwood
Academy is a Hospitality and Catering training facility
with state of the art training kitchen and bistro. There are
also conference facilities for hire. Charnwood train apprentices
and our students in the Academy as well as running their work
based training from the centre. Occupation of the Academy has
led to a massive increase in business for Charnwood Training
Group. Our students and those from other local school can take
Level 1, 2 or 3 courses as well as Young Apprenticeships and
the Diploma. The managing partners of the company have worked
closely with our ICT students to develop a company web site,
giving students the opportunity of real life customers.
Ashfield
Plaza Nursery is a commercial nursery providing places for
up to 60 pre school children. The staff there train apprentice
Nursery Nurses and Teaching Assistants as well as offering Child
care courses Levels 1, 2 and 3 to our students.
Derbyshire
and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce(DNCC) delivers
a wide range of business support services, across both counties
to its members and the wider business community and to individuals
seeking to gain employment through learning. Through membership
of DNCC members can access extensive networking opportunities
a wide range of discounted services, international trade services
and information services, They also deliver '39 steps to employment'
course and 'Business Administration' Level 2 to our students.
Angels Carrying Savage Weapons
is a husband and wife team who design and manufacture bespoke
textiles including Bridal, Cabaret and stage wear. They have
seen their business more than triple since occupying the centre.
Similarly they have delivered A Level and BTEC textiles courses
and our students have achieved record results. Lindsey also
trains Teachers and adults in association with DeMontfort University.
CISCO Academy is a unit offering
CISCO accredited courses pre and Post 16 allowing our students
to learn how to build and maintain computers and networks.
We have two Hair and Beauty training
salons, these are extremely popular with boys and girls from
year 10 onwards. The salons are not only very popular but also
very successful. They offer Levels 1, 2 and 3 in Salon Services,
Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy.
Apple Europe have backed the
development of our Photography and Print training centre. Here
we have the very latest equipment, sound proof booths and high
tech printers allowing our students to produce extremely high
quality work at BTEC , As and A Level.
A retail training outlet in partnership
with Rathbone. This will simulate a retail environment
and will deliver courses to our students and local retail companies
in Retail, Customer Service, Warehousing and Security.
