Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.
Welcome to Year 11, the start of what I’m sure will be an exciting, challenging and fulfilling educational journey for the students in the Class of 2018. This is a year group that I am incredibly proud of and it has been a pleasure to support them over their 5 years at Ashfield.
My job is to care for each individual student and support and challenge them to reach their full potential both academically and personally. High standards of behaviour and attitude to learning are expected for students to be able to achieve this. Excellent attendance and punctuality is vital at all stages of school; however, in Key Stage 4 it is fundamental to ensuring that our students reach their full potential.
I would like to thank you for your continued support coming into your child’s final GCSE year. Over the coming months I would ask all parents to make a conscious effort and look at some of the following ways to monitor your child’s learning from home. This can be done in various ways such as:
- Encourage your child to complete homework on time
- Make sure s/he is at school every day and on time
- Encourage your child to attend all revision and study support sessions
- Ensure the balance of work and play is right
- If your child is struggling in any way – let us know right away
Year 11 can be a challenging time for students but it is also an exciting year, with plans for Post 16 on the horizon. I am committed to helping every student in Year 11 achieve their full potential in order to follow their chosen pathway and as their Achievement Leader, I ask that they give their best and make the most of all the opportunities ahead.
Our final year is upon us. Let’s make it our best yet!
