With new Beauty salons seeming to appear on the high street every day, and manicures becoming a necessity rather than a luxury for an increasing number of women, more students are considering beauty therapy as a viable and flexible career choice. With the opportunity to be employed, self-employed, and even to travel the world working on the cruise liners, the industry is supremely attractive to those students who would prefer not to take an academic route post GCSEs…but the crucial choice then is where to study?
With many options available to students – vast colleges, apprenticeships – Ashfield School has a rather unique provision to throw into the mix. Up in the Post 16 Centre, within purpose built, bright and modern salons, students can study to Level 2 and 3 as full time, full programme courses, each completed within a year, and the key point…delivered to small groups so that teaching is personal, focused and highly effective.
Many of the students who choose this way of studying feel that the more intimate setting suits them better than working in a large group with less personal attention, and 2 such students who came to the course from another local school are Christie Nunn and Kylesha Hollis. Christie said of her decision: “I knew that I wanted to learn as much as I could, and I thought that the smaller groups at Ashfield would be best for me to do that. The facilities are great and everyone is really friendly.”
Kylesha added: “I’ve really enjoyed the Level 2 course here at Ashfield and I’m looking forward to starting the Level 3 course.”
Course teacher Louise Brooks said: “We offer students the chance to learn and work in smaller groups than most colleges offer, thereby increasing the individual attention they receive in what is a very practical course. Students really benefit from this, not least because it enables them to complete both Level 2 and Level 3 within 2 years. We also ensure that the kit that they need to complete the course is heavily discounted, keeping costs as low as possible for them.”
There are a small number of places available on the Level 3 Beauty Therapy course in September so, if you’re interested, contact Ashfield Post 16 as soon as possible on 01623 448854.
