Dragons Den Project

Dragons Den Project

Some of our Most Able and Talented year eight students recently faced ‘the dragons’ in a competition to see which of them were the most innovative and forward thinking. They spent the day researching current inventions, and completed three challenges before presenting their team’s ideas to an audience and a video camera.

Students came up with creative ideas about how to improve Ashfield School. These included storage solutions, ways to make the school more energy efficient and even an app which could teach students virtual lessons from home! They then turned their attention to our local community and generated ideas which would benefit people who live in Kirkby and Sutton. These included new entertainment facilities, ways of preventing crime and interesting ways of tackling the congestion on the A38. Finally the students decided upon ways they could improve the lives of people around the world. These included solar powered BBQ’s, heated slippers and cost effective ways to provide food for those in need.

All in all it was a fantastic day, with loads of creative ideas being developed and then articulately presented to their audience. The students were excellent to work with all day, showing themselves to be possible inventors of the future!
