Our Level 2 Professional Cookery and Level 2 Pub Chef Operations students have been very busy this week working alongside the Academy Café team… to prepare food for over 500 guests! And, as if that weren’t enough, they have organised (and baked for) a Christmas cake sale to raise money to purchase food for Kirkby Food Bank to help those in need at Christmas; they made classic ginger bread biscuits, gluten free chocolate brownies and chocolate Christmas trees.
In addition, they have been perfecting their Yorkshire puddings, cauliflower cheese and homemade sage and cranberry stuffing for the staff lunchtime carvery, where they have also been responsible for carving the turkey! Despite it being the first year of this course, 2 of the lunchtime services were very quickly sold out, and just to make sure that no-one got bored, they have also catered a number of rewards buffets for students.
It has been an outstanding effort by both groups of students and we very much look forward to seeing this success continue.
