Ashfield School Pupils Entertained Audiences with their Recent Production of CHICAGO

Last week, the stars of Ashfield School took to the stage to perform an exceptional rendition of the show Chicago.

Over 200 pupils auditioned for roles, whilst only a fraction of the most talented were successful. And no-one could deny that these pupils are indeed talented: Alana Taylor as Velma Kelly,Ellie Greatorex as Roxie Hart, Rami Ben Fredj as Billy Flynn, Molly Kent as Matron ‘Mamma’ Morton, Brock Warren as Mary Sunshine, Jack Hardy as Amos Hart, and Kaylen Kirlew as MC, as well as a brilliant cast of singers, dancers and supporting actors. Despite ranging in age from 11-18, there is no doubt that their professionalism, the quality of their performances and their pure endeavour were well received by even the most ardent theatre-goers.

Without the production team, however, the pupils would not have been able to showcase their skills so successfully; Mr Sluman, Mr Helan and Mrs Turner, along with a whole armada of staff volunteers, gave up their evenings, weekends and social lives in order to set the platform for a week of incredible performances. Their efforts, year after year, provide the school community with a chance to come together and enjoy what is always an incredibly high standard of theatre.

On behalf of the whole school, we would like to thank all of the students and staff involved for providing an occasion that was both unifying and uplifting for everybody who was fortunate enough to witness it.
