In celebration of Apprenticeship Week, and to highlight the amazing opportunities that an apprenticeship offers, Ashfield School’s careers advisor, Miss King, brought businesses and students together recently.
Hosted in Ashfield Post 16’s impressive hospitality and catering restaurant, and with a delicious buffet prepared by the school’s own apprentices, representatives from local businesses mingled with students, answering their questions and providing information on the opportunities they had available within their own businesses.
Miss King said of the event: “It was great to see students chatting with employers and finding out what opportunities they might be able to take advantage of. The atmosphere was very relaxed and informal, which I feel helped the students feel more comfortable about asking questions, and the hospitality and catering apprentices really took good care of us. The event was so successful that I am planning a larger event in May. As always, we would welcome the involvement of as many local businesses as possible and it really is a win, win situation: our students get great advice and possibly the opportunity of a job, and the businesses get to meet what could be their employees of the future.”
